Emergency & After-Hours Care
Supporting the pets and livestock of Edson & surrounding areas when urgent care is needed.
Emergencies are stressful — we want to ensure you get help quickly and safely. Edson Veterinary Clinic provides limited after-hours support and guidance for clients, and we work closely with other trusted emergency resources so you can make informed decisions during urgent situations.

Call Your Regular Veterinarian First
For the safest and fastest care, we strongly recommend contacting your primary veterinarian first whenever possible.
Your regular clinic already knows your animal’s:
- medical history
- current medications
- chronic conditions
- previous reactions to treatments
- recent diagnostic results
This information is essential during an emergency and ensures your pet or livestock receives the most appropriate care.
Animal HealthLink – Teletriage Support
Our clinic partners with Animal HealthLink (AHL) to provide reliable, professional triage support after hours.
When you call our emergency line, your call is automatically forwarded to AHL, where you will speak directly with a Registered Veterinary Technologist (RVT). You may also choose to call AHL directly.
The RVT will:
- Assess your animal’s symptoms
- Provide immediate triage and care advice
- Help determine whether urgent veterinary attention is needed
- Contact our on-call veterinarian directly when intervention or guidance is required
AHL works closely with our team to ensure your animal receives the fastest and most appropriate care, whether that means seeing our veterinarian, stabilizing at home, or seeking another emergency facility if necessary.
Important Notice for Non-Clients
Edson Veterinary Clinic prioritizes emergency care for current EVC clients, including pets and active herd/farm accounts.
If your animals are not regular patients of our clinic:
You may be advised to seek emergency care with your primary veterinarian or another facility.
This ensures your animal receives care from a team with full access to their medical history.
